Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players have taken to social media to express their anger with the game's latest update, which implemented a brand-new UI for the Call of Duty HQ app while also deleting users' game files. The 55GB Call of Duty update is available to download now on all supported platforms, and while it includes all of the multiplayer and Zombies files for the upcoming release of Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 3 players have been left fuming after being forced to re-download all of their game files.

With Black Ops 6 now just days away from releasing, Activision has opted to give the Call of Duty HQ app a fresh lick of paint with a brand-new user interface. While Call of Duty's new UI update is just one of the many changes being made in preparation for Black Ops 6, it's one that's going to impact every Call of Duty player, regardless of whether or not they've pre-ordered the upcoming shooter. Unfortunately, players who plan on sticking with Modern Warfare 3 have been left irritated after the update not only uninstalls their game files, but installs Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty's UI overhaul has been highly anticipated by players, but nobody anticipated that the update would completely wipe the game files for every Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone player. Shortly after the update was deployed, fans realized that Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer, campaign, Zombies, and even the entirety of Warzone needed to be reinstalled. Players were also left irritated as the update installed the game files for the upcoming shooter's multiplayer and Zombies modes, even for those who haven't pre-ordered Black Ops 6.

Over on the Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty subreddits, numerous posts are calling out Activision for forcing players to redownload numerous game files. Reddit user Kyeithel said that they were disconnected from a multiplayer game and forced to update their game, only to discover that their files had been deleted after the fact. They then referred to the update policy as "nonsense." In response, Reddit user Fortunes_foe said that the Call of Duty HQ app is "the worst launcher ever" and stated that "it's amazing how bad it is."

Although the update has caused plenty of controversy, Activision says the new user interface will allow users to manage their Call of Duty games more efficiently. As all-new Call of Duty titles now fall under a singular app, the overall storage size has been a common complaint in the game's community. With the file size of Black Ops 6 being roughly 145GB when all three modes are installed, players will find that the Call of Duty app takes up roughly 300GB with previous games installed. But thanks to a new UI, it's now much easier to manage which games and modes are taking up precious hard drive space.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch on October 25, and to hype fans up for the shooter's release, publisher Activision and developer Treyarch have been publishing new blog posts each day for the last week.
